There's not been much happening here at the house, except for teen drama. Can I just say I will NOT have empty nest syndrome when Baby decides what to do with her life. LOL

I didn't have a chance to load up Baby's special graduation video last month, which I made for her party. If you're interested, and have have a couple hours to spare...okay it's not that bad. LOL It's about a 20 hodge podge minutes of pictures and video set to music. It has a couple of funny moments and includes all the special songs we've enjoyed together over the years.
Look for Baby's senior picture in the sidebar here on the page, click on the picture and you'll be taken to the video page that highlights some moments that are just...well, downright funny.

A Title For Percy

I finally have a title for Percy's book. It's Redemption. A huge thank you to reader Kathryn Tesh for giving me the title on my Facebook page. I'll be sure to acknowledge you in the beginning of the book!! I really liked the title when Kathyrn first posted, but wasn't sure it was right. But it kept coming back to haunt me, and I know it truly epitomizes the romance between these two characters. The image here is the base image the AWESOME Viviana Izzo will use to make a wonderful cover.

I just love, love this image. Viv found it a long time ago, and I kept putting her off as to when to use it, but it's perfect for Percy and Rhea.

As a special treat for you, I've posted the first four Chapters of the story on my website. You're the first to read it, and I'm not alerting the masses that it's available, so this is one of those special newsletter perks!!

For Labor Day we generally do hamburgers and hotdogs. Although we have pork blade steaks in the freezer, so we might go with those on Labor Day. I just love my BBQ blade steaks, especially the next day for breakfast. Yes, I'm a nut when it comes to weird breakfast food. I believe cake for breakfast is no different than a donut! *grin*Check out the recipe for my fabulous MISSY POTATOES  and my favorite macaroni salad ever!! Pineapple Macaroni Salad. It's awesome! Both of these recipes can be seen on the newsletter page (Here). It's quite popular when I place it on the table. BTW! I just thought about this! Would it be helpful if I set up these recipes in a text format for you to download? Would make it easier for you to save on your computer? Also, I can save in cookbook formats too. If you're interested, please do this quick  SURVEY so I can find out if it's worth taking time away from my writing to do this.

Pineapple Salad Missy Potatoes
This recipe is one of those where there's no measurements, just taste buds. This happens to be my favorite macaroni salad. Mom made it every summer when I was a kid.1 can crushed Pineapple
1 green pepper
Miracle Whip
Velveeta Cheese Slices
Pineapple Juice
Elbow Macaroni NoodlesCook noodles according to box. I like to use a whole box.Cut up several slices of cheese into bite size pieces. Do the same for the green pepper.
Add about three to four large spoonfuls of Miracle Whip to the cooked noodles. Stir until the noodles are lightly coated. Add the crushed pineapple with all its juice, the green pepper and the cheese bits. Mix and add more Miracle Whip or pineapple juice as necessary to make the salad moist, but not thick and sticky. I generally buy the six pack of Dole pineapple juice cans, so I can add juice into the salad the next day.
2 lb Hash browns, frozen, thawed
16 oz Sour cream
10 1/4 oz Cream of celery soup
4 oz Cheddar cheese, sharp
1/2 cup Butter, softened
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Black pepper
1/2 cup HiHo cracker crumbs

  1. Combine first 7 ingredients.
  2. Spoon into a lightly greased 13x9 baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle cracker crumbs evenly over top.
  4. Bake at 350ø for 40 minutes or until bubbly.

New Authors

I'm delighted to have Vanessa Kelly visiting me this month for the author spotlight. I won't deny being her friend, but even if we weren't I'd still say she's a terrific writer. She has a new book coming out next week, you're going to love the whole concept. It's about princesses who were born on the other side of the blanket!! *gasp*

Monica: This latest release is the beginning of a new series. Tell me a little about it.
Vanessa: It’s a spin-off series from my last group of books, The Renegade Royals. Those stories feature heroes who are the illegitimate sons of England’s royal princes. They’re all tough guys, three spies and one crime lord. Those books were so much fun to write I decided to expand on the concept with a series based on the fictional daughters of those naughty princes. In real-life, the Prince Regent and his royal brothers were true rakes. Among them, they had over twenty illegitimate offspring, so there was plenty of inspiration at hand!

The Improper Princesses are also loosely based on famous movie musicals. MY FAIR PRINCESS is, of course, based on My Fair Lady. The next book, THREE WEEKS WITH A PRINCESS, is based on Gigi.

Monica: So tell me more about the new book.
Vanessa: MY FAIR PRINCESS tells the story of Gillian Dryden. The illegitimate daughter of a royal duke, Gillian grew up in Sicily after her mother retreated there in disgrace and married an Italian count. Some years later, bandits murdered the count, and Gillian made it her mission to exact revenge against the villains who killed her beloved stepfather. Unfortunately, that made her a target for vengeance, and Gillian’s family decided it was time for her to return to England, become a proper lady, and find a respectable husband.

Enter Charles Penley, the Duke of Leverton. The most polite and polished man in England, Charles is tasked with teaching Gillian how to become a lady instead of a hellion. Let’s just say he’s got his hands full!

Monica: What do you like best about your hero of My Fair Princess?
Vanessa: Charles has many good qualities—he’s smart, decisive, and courageous, although he generally favors the use of brain over brawn. But what I like best is how kind he is. Even though Gillian challenges him at every turn, he treats her with genuine care. He sees how vulnerable she is under her tough exterior, and he responds to that part of her. Charles is the definition of a good guy.

It also doesn’t hurt that he’s also handsome and sexy!

Monica: What did you enjoy most about writing this story?
Vanessa: Gillian and Charles are pretty hilarious together. She’s brash and likes to poke fun, sometimes just to get a rise out of him. But he’s very witty, so he’s more than her match when it comes to verbal jousting.

Monica: You've been pretty busy. What's next for you book wise in 2016 and 2017?
Vanessa: I just handed over the second book in the new series to my editor. It’s called THREE WEEKS WITH A PRINCESS, and features a heroine raised quietly in the country who basically runs away to London to become an actress—much to the dismay of her oldest and dearest friend, the handsome Jack Easton, Marquess of Lendale (he appears in MY FAIR PRINCESS). That book will be out in July 2017.

The third Improper Princesses book will be out in December 2017. That’s called THE HIGHLANDER’S PRINCESS BRIDE. As you might imagine, it’s set in the Highlands and has a Scottish hero.

Monica: I know you read a lot when you're not writing (HOW do you do that!! *sigh*) What's your favorite book of 2015-16?
Vanessa:I had more than one—The Paradox Trilogy by Rachel Bach. It’s a fabulous space opera that features one of my favorite heroines of all time. The books are fun, exciting, creative, and beautifully written. If you like strong heroines, I highly recommend this trilogy. I’m also reading JANE STEELE by Lyndsay Faye. It’s a reimagining of Jane Eyre, with Jane as a murderess. I know that sounds almost heretical, but it’s SO good. And I love Jane Steele—she’s a wonderful character who absolutely stole my heart.

MY FAIR PRINCESS — Improper Princesses 1

First, Vanessa Kelly brought readers The Renegade Royals. Now, in a delightfully witty new series, she introduces The Improper Princesses—three young women descended from royalty, each bound for her own thrilling adventure . . .

Despite being the illegitimate daughter of a prince, Gillian Dryden is happily ignorant of all social graces. After growing up wild in Italy, Gillian has been ordered home to England to find a suitable husband. And Charles Valentine Penley, the excessively proper, distractingly handsome Duke of Leverton, has agreed to help transform her from a willful tomboy to a blushing debutante.

Powerful and sophisticated, Charles can make or break reputations with a well-placed word. But his new protégée, with her habit of hunting bandits and punching earls, is a walking scandal. The ton is aghast . . . but Charles is thoroughly intrigued. Tasked with taking the hoyden in hand, he longs to take her in his arms instead. Can such an outrageous attraction possibly lead to a fairytale ending?

New Authors
After reading that awesome interviewe, are you ready to check a few new-to-you authors?? There's no method to my madness and I just grabbed from the barrel. *grin* All of these books have at least a 3.5 Star rating with 25 or more reviews on Amazon and/or Goodreads combined.
The best way to make your buying decision is to read the reviews, if there are a lot of top rated reviews, and the book looks interesting to you, odds are you're going to enjoy the book. NOTE: Just remember!! I've NOT read these books, so I can't recommend them one way or another. I'm simply acting as the "middle man" between you and other authors. Helping people out is a part of my life's journey.
